Arts Integration: Learning that Lasts
Arts integration is a method of teaching that helps learners to achieve comprehension by employing art practices. This form of instruction links an art form with different subject areas (The Kennedy Center). Curriculum enriched in arts integration can help students with academic success and knowledge retention. As an arts educator, I am always thrilled to see students master a core subject concept through the integration of the arts.
We believe arts integration is an effective way to differentiate instruction. Our program continuously connects core and fine arts subjects and concepts. The academic achievements from connecting core and arts subjects may endure after learner leave the classroom. Did you learn to sing the Presidents in elementary school? Did the song help you to learn the names and order of the Presidents? Are you singing the melody now? Arts integration is a way to make learning last.
